At least now I know I’m not crazy, which is how I felt when I got all my news from NPR. The magazine “The American Conservative” has convinced me I’m healthy. But reading isn’t enough anymore, and I’m having trouble translating my political awareness into actions.
I bought ten subscriptions to AmCon for my friends and family— and most of those are households with two or more adults. That helped me feel supportive of the magazine. It also helped me feel like I was disseminating good ideas. And I felt like I was finally announcing to my friends and family where I stood.
This blog was the next step. There are internet resources that should get a fair and respectful hearing, and I can do my part. I’ve also been surprised to learn that this blog has been a great tool for finding new sources of news and information.
I’d like to get involved in local government, but there are few politicians and no political parties who represent my political perspective.
So for now I’ll just keep gathering intellectual resources. I just bought a subscription to another paleoconservative periodical— “Chronicles”. My political book library also needs filling out. I have all of Buchanan’s work, and a couple of great books by Theodore Dalrymple. Now I’m interested in Sam Francis, Buchanan’s close friend who died last year. Apparently he’s quite good.
At this point the grand plan is to gather together a small group of like minded individuals- a “political action committee” in the classic sense. I should look up Ryan Law, the former chairman of the defunct America First Party of Minnesota. Last time I called him it didn’t work out so well:
Bjorn: Hi, is Ryan there?
Ryan: Speaking.
Bjorn: It’s me, Bjorn. I was wondering if you happened to be going to the Constitution Party Convention. John Stormer will be////
Ryan: I’m sorry, I don’t know any Bjorn.
Bjorn: We met at the gun show last February.
Ryan(shocked): GASP!!! I’ve never been to a gun show IN MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!

Who would have known there were two Ryan Laws in the area?
I recommend reading the Minority opinion of the Supreme Court in the famous Marbury vrs Madison case, although its author later recanted, it's still a good read, also the appended essay in Russel Means' autobiography where he says that Native Americans in rejecting the materialistic excesses of Capitalism should not think communism is the answer, for it is if anything just as materialistic ...
